SubscriberDear ANSYS Discovery Support Team,ÂI am a student currently trying to install ANSYS Discovery through the ANSYS Student package.ÂHowever, I have encountered a significant issue related to disk space during the installation process.ÂAlthough I have approximately 120 GB of free storage available, the installation fails due to insufficient space.ÂIt seems that the full ANSYS Student package requires a substantial amount of temporary disk space during extraction and installation, which exceeds my system’s capacity.ÂMy main objective is to use ANSYS Discover, and I do not require the rest of the applications included in the full ANSYS Student suite.ÂFor this reason, I would like to kindly ask if it would be possible to:ÂObtain a standalone installer for ANSYS Discovery (even if it is from a previous version), orAccess a lighter version of the ANSYS Student package that includes only Discovery, orReceive guidance on how to install only the necessary components to run ANSYS Discovery with limited disk spaceÂI would greatly appreciate any assistance or recommendations you can provide, including access to previous versions that may have lower installation requirements.ÂThank you very much for your time and support.ÂKind regards, -

Forum ModeratorNot at present, it's a single bundle which also contains the built in licence and needs to be installed as is. The full versions have more selectivity in what you install.Â

SubscriberThank you for your response and for clarifying that the ANSYS Student package is currently only available as a full bundle.
Unfortunately, due to disk space limitations on my system, I am still unable to complete the installation, even though I only need ANSYS Discovery for my studies.
I would like to kindly ask if there might be any alternative solutions available, such as access to a previous version of ANSYS Discovery or the Student package.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations you could provide, as ANSYS Discovery is essential for my coursework.
Thank you again for your time and support.

Forum ModeratorI did say "at present". I suspect nothing will be available soon, but discussions have been started.Â
Short term, can you delete anything to get the install done and then remove some of the Ansys tools? We REALLY don't recommend that, but if you just want Discovery it might mostly work. Otherwise the only options are getting Campus IT to open up the licence server (you then use the Campus install & licence) or get a larger hard drive.Â

SubscriberThank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I’m unable to free up more disk space or upgrade my hardware, so installing the full package is not feasible.
What do you refer "getting Campus IT to open up the licence server"?... Could you please provide guidance on how to access this?
Thank you for your help.

Forum ModeratorYou need to talk to the IT group nicely. If you can link into the campus network licence you can install a licenced version of Discovery (provided by IT) as opposed to the Student build and run using the campus licence.Â
