SubscriberI have recently switched from Discovery AIM to the new Discovery as ANSYS was no longer supporting AIM.Â
Â
I have done a lot of playing around and think its time to get some additional help on specific questions regarding the results portion.
Â
1.) Can I use the "Cut" function with vectors.
I see that you can use the cut function with contours but with vectors it is grey for me. This is the most useful result for us and we use it in AIM. Is there is way to replicate it? I attached a picture of an AIM result that I am trying to replicate.
2.) Is there more control over the streamline results other than the "thickness" and "tail length"
In AIM I could specific the animation duration, step count, speed, and number of points. Are these settings still available?
Â
3.) Can you change the units from m/s to something else?
Â
Thanks!

Ansys EmployeeHello seffa
All the above-mentioned points are good enhancement requests. I will pass them on to the development team for consideration!

SubscriberNaresh Patre Thanks Naresh. While I have you I have one more question. Can you view the mesh before the solution is solved? It would be useful to see the mesh before taking the time to run the simulation.
Â
Thanks!

SubscriberNaresh Patre Also, while the simulation is solving, can you monitor the iteration as they are completed? In AIM you could open the text monitor and it shows you in real-time the iteration count. This is helpful to see how long its taking.

SubscriberNaresh Patre Also can you see how many mesh elements there are prior to running solve?

Ansys EmployeeHello seffaÂ
When the progress bar on the SID shows progress of more than 50%, the mesh is available for viewing. Please check out below FAQ related to this topic.

Ansys EmployeeHello seffa
Currently, it is possible to monitor variables as the simulation is being solved. Check out the below getting-started tutorial which shows this option.

SubscriberNaresh Patre I realize this but it now takes far longer to dial the mesh in compared to AIM because you essentially are just going in blind every time you adjust the fidelity dial. There's also no way to see how many elements the mesh is now?

Ansys Employeeseffa Sorry for getting back to you late on this question.
Currently, there are no mesh statistics available to review the mesh. But this is already on the list of development and we hope to see these features in nearest future.
