SubscriberHello everyone,
I was trying to import mesh files that were generated using ICEM CFD through the "External Data". However, after I updated the "Model" unit that was connected to the "External Data", the following error occurred:
'Update failed for the Model component in Static Structural. Conversion Failed. Either the application crashed or Workbench lost communication with it'.
I have also attached two figures showing the error messages.
I didn't quite understand what is going on here so any suggestions from you would be appreciated.
Yours,
Yu

Looking at the error message it looks that the conversion of the data failed or the project crashed. For importing the data can you try having the data in a text filw with x,y, and z locations of node and the data for relevant physical quantity. You can then import this data via External Data in static structural analysis.
In case the model iscorruptedand you will need to restore it in a newproject. In yourprojectfolder, there should be an SYS.mechdb file for each Analysis object that was on the schematic.
Go to View-> Files->Model->SYS.mechdb-> Right-click on the location dp0\global\MECH and then you will be able to see the .mechdb file
Make a copy of SYS.mechdb to another folder Rename the copy to SYS.mechdat Create a newProject. File > Import change the extension filter to .MECHDAT Browse to the SYS.mechdat and open. Save theprojectto a new name/folder when you are done. Please avoid having spaces in the file name before saving the file.

Thanks a lot! It seems that my mesh file was indeed out of date so I just re-meshed the model and it would finally work now!
