      Hi all,

I have try to simulate the motor model with and without mesh in the air gap by using the air material for the meshing and my air gap is 8 mm, I'm wonder why the meshing is of air gap is effect the force result also what does the algorithm of the force and torque calculation?? I know that 3D transient using the virtual work principle but not understand which area is significant in the software calculation?

      Thank you,

      Anunda

Hi, the force and torque calculations are performed using the virtual work method. This involves calculating the magnetic energy/coenergy in the simulation, and then evaluating the virtual change in co/energy at the surfaces of the selected objects as if the mesh had moved. Please refer Maxwell Online Helpf for more details.
