Aerodynamic coefficients for a multi-part wing airfoil

      Hello everyone,

I am conducting simulations on a 2D wing airfoil, as shown in the first attached picture.

As you can see, the wing airfoil consists of more than one part, with a movable plate at the top of the trailing edge that can be opened (see the second attached picture).

I aim to calculate the lift and drag coefficients (cl and cd) of the wing airfoil. I have a doubt. To accomplish this, while creating the "Named Selection" for the airfoil, should I select only the boundary edges of the fixed part without including the boundary edges of the moving part, or should I select all the boundary edges, both those of the fixed part and those of the moving part?

Thank you for your support ????.

      Hello Nicola,

It depends on what boundary conditions you are going to set for the fixed and moving parts. If the boundary conditions you are going to apply for the moving part along with the fixed part is the same then I suggest you to select the entire parts and name it as airfoil if not then select only the fixed parts and name it as airfoil in named selections.

I hope this helps you in your simulation.

      Thanks,
