I am currently engaged in simulating a quarter-section of a mechanical system involving a press-fit pin and a PCB using the ANSYS Static Structural Solver. Regrettably, I have encountered inaccuracies in the simulation results. Specifically, I am observing excessively high equivalent stress values and unexpectedly low force magnitudes. Furthermore, there are challenges related to the interaction between the pin and the PCB. Secondly, there is gap of 2micrometer between pin eye ball arms, due to the presence of a gap in the pin, I incorporated a frictionless contact condition in that specific region. Unfortunately, the current outcome reveals that, rather than deforming as expected, the pin is sliding along the surface of the PCB's ring.

Hi Akshay,
Can you please give more details related to the below points:
- Did you use linear or non-linear material?
- Is the large deflection option ON?
- Did you try switching from frictionless to frictional contact?
- Also, share some more details about the loads applied to the model.
Meanwhile please check the below knowledge material for best practices related to snap fit.

hey Akshay Maniyar,
Thanks for your reply,
Here's a breakdown of the informationÂ
Material Properties:Â You used non-linear material with creep properties. This indicates that the material behavior in your analysis is non-linear, and it accounts for creep, which is the gradual deformation of a material under a constant load over time.
Large Deflection:Â The "large deflection" option is ON in your analysis.Â
- I have tried switching from frictionless to frictional contact. results with greater value of stress.
Load Application:Â I have applied displacement in five time steps with specific values:
- Step 1: Displacement = 0.4
- Step 2: Displacement = 0.8
- Step 3: Displacement = 1.3
- Step 4: Displacement = 1.8
- Step 5: Displacement = 2.3
Thanks,
Akshay kulkarniÂ

Hi Akshay,
Can you share the screenshots of boundary conditions? Is it a quarter or half symmetry model?
Â
Thanks,
Akshay Maniyar

Hi Akshay,
As you mentioned your result doesn't look correct, can you check the symmetry conditions and boundary conditions properly? You can insert screenshots how symmetry conditions so that I can check.
Thanks,
Akshay Maniyar
