Additive Mfg Simulations in MAPDL

      Hello,

I am currently trying to use MAPDL to run an additive manufacturing simulation. I have a simulation set up in workbench and created the input file from it, then tried to run it in MAPDL and got the error "The AMTYPE command is not available since Additive Manufacturing. (-AMFG) was not specified for this ANSYS session. Contact your ANSYS support person"

On another thread (which has now been closed), an ANSYS employee mentioned that you should be adding "-amfg" as an additional command line argument in the "Solve process settings" window, but I am still running into the same error. I added the command line, re-exported the input file, and opened it with MAPDL. No luck.

Is there something else I should be checking? It seems like MAPDL doesn't know how/when to use the additive license, and I'm not sure how to make it do that.

      Thanks in advance.

If you are launching Ansys from the command line, it should be:

      ansys241.exe -b -amfg

See Section 4.5 of the MAPDL Operations Guide for more details.

You can also launch MAPDL via the MAPDL Product Launcher and define -amfg parameter in that GUI.

Thanks, this did end up working for me.
