SubscriberHi all,
I was using Ansys 18.1 until recently when I upgraded to 2021 R2. Since the upgrade I have issues with the licencing and I am not able to use the software. I have uploaded some of the error messages that I am getting from the licencing settings, workbench and mechanical . Does anyone know how to resolve this issue, or what the cause may be? As far as I am aware, all settings are correct. The error in states that 'The default mesh size calculations have changed in 18.2. Specifically, the default min size values...' I don't know why this references 18.1 when I am now using 2021 R2. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Kind regards

Ansys EmployeeIs the license server running version 2021 R2 of the ANSYS License Manager? It needs to be.
Can you please post the errors as ANSYS Employees are not permitted to open any files.
Also, under %TEMP%\.ansys you should see license debug files...Please check those and post any errors seen in those files.

SubscriberThank you for the reply.
By licence server, do you mean the server of my organisation? I assume that this is running the version 2021 R2 as other machines and users are using the software without the issue that I am experiencing.
In Mechanical the error is 'The database will be opened in read-only mode', 'Your licence configuration does not allow that operation' and 'The default mesh size calculations have changed in 18.2. Specifically, the default min size values...' This is what I found strange because I was using 18.2 before this update.
The error in workbench states 'The licence server has time out. Operations require licence checkout are not possible. You can continue your work once the licence server is restored. Feature ANSYS Workbench Environment timed out. ANSYSLI_SERVERS: 2325@ansyslicence.staffs.ac.uk FLEXlm Servers: 1055@ansyslicence.staffs.ac.uk'
In the Licencing Client Settings 2021 R2 the error is 'Failed to run D:/Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v212\licencingclient\win64\ansysli_util.exe'
Also in the Licencing Client Settings 2021 R2 when I click on test I get the following 'lmutil - Copywright (c) 1989-2019 Flexera. All Rights Reserved. Flexible Licence Manager status on Tue 12/21/2021 11:19 [Detecting lmgrd processes...] Error getting status: Licence server machine is down or not responding. (-96.7:11001 "WinSock: Host not found (HOST_NOT_FOUND)") Error: Command failed: D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v212\licencingclient\win64\lmutil.exe lmstat -c 1055@ansyslicence.staffs.ac.uk'
I'm not sure what you mean by %TEMP%\.ansyshow do I see these files and see errors?
Kind regards and thank you for your help.
