In FDTD, we can measure absorption by integrating power in a particular region instead of doing 1- R - T. Are there any options in RCWA to measure absorption in a particular layer when we have multiple layers and more than one layer can absorb light?Â

RCWA now allows users to use field monitors so you can get E fields:
https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/16277147107731-RCWA-Field-Monitor-Simulation-Object
RCWA can report refractive index.
So you will need to use script to calculate the absorption.

I think this can be a feature for RCWA. Please file it here https://ix.lumerical.com/

Can you provide the code so I can calculate the absorption in the particular absorbing layer?Â
