SubscriberHello everyone,I want to know how to simlulate a single phase short-circuit to ground of a PMSM.

Ansys EmployeeHI @Peter8415 You can implement it using an external circuit for winding.
You can refer to the below picture on how to implement an external circuit.
You can add the switches and connection as per your requirement

Right-click the voltage-controlled switch and select Properties. on the popup window selecting the radio button for the info opens up component help about that particular component(switch in this case) in a new window.
You need to use both the components to define a switch as shown below. Use the same name for both
The voltage-controlled switch comes in two flavors: with a controlling port and without a controlling port. In either case a model data for the voltage-controlled switch needs to be specified
Use same notations for both the com

Hi @nchode´╝îI have known how the voltage-controlled switch works, but I still want to know Why the resist and ground ´╝êin the picture´╝ë is need ,your external circuit seem to be the short circuit to the ground instead of short circuit between the PhaseÒÇéBased on your circuit , I simulated single phsae short circuit to the ground , short circuit between two phase, two phase short circuit to the ground , short circuit between three phase and three phase short circuit to the ground , circuit and current are in the pictures .Project is in the attachmentÒÇé

Ansys EmployeeHi @ The circuit I shared is an overall circuit for all types of failures.
Depending on the type of failure or short circuit you are simulating you can keep what is required.
if you are simulating phase to phase short circuit, you do not need the ground resistance and switch.

SubscriberHi @nchode,I tried to simulate the two phase short circuit according to you ,when I imported the external circuit ,some errors occurred.
I would appreciate that if you can share some specific examples(Two phase short and two phase short to ground).

The issue is that right side circuit will not connect to a ground and become an independent circuit, after switches (S1, S2, S3) are open. The ground will be a reference for the calculation, not exactly flow current to the "ground" (earth), so we have to have it for each independent circuit branch in the simulation.
What is the meaning of two phase short to ground? Could you clarify it? I did not see the difference between two phase short and two phase short to ground presented in the circuit. Thanks.

SubscriberHi,@HDLI,Does a short circuit to the ground require an insulation resistance to the ground, and should the so-called ground treat its resistance as zero or infinity?
I would appreciate that if you can share some specific examples(Two phase short and two phase short to ground).

has already shared the 3 phase line to line short circuit, it is good reference for two phase short circuit. You just need to replace either S_22 or S_21 with wire and it is very practical to change 3 phase line to line short circuit to 2 phase line to line short circuit or earth grounding.
For earth grounding, there is a reference https://rexel-cdn.com/Products/8717FD5C-29D3-427C-B3A1-5922DAB6AEEC/8717FD5C-29D3-427C-B3A1-5922DAB6AEEC.pdf
However, I hope and suggest you understand the requirement first and know what is the short circuit situation. The "2 phase short" has "line to line" short and "line to neutral" short, and the "ground" has "equipment ground" and "earth ground". Thanks.

Here is another reference for the earth ground resistance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soil_resistivity.

SubscriberCan you please send the screenshot of the max circuit when we wanted to short one coil in phase 'a'? Let's say lphase a is composed of 5 coils. out of them, I wanted to short-circuit 1 one.

SubscriberHello,
Is the effect of time duration of the short circuit fault considered in the demagnetization of magnets due to short circuit? How does the time duration of fault affect demagnetization?
