About importing K files

      Hello
I'm having trouble opening the created K file even when I try to open it again with PrePost.

I used to use the ANSYS 2020R2 LS-DYNA Student and now that it can no longer be analyzed, so I am using the new ANSYS LS-DYNA Student 2023R.
The created K file cannot be opened when I try to open it in 2023R, and it opens when I try to open it in 2020R.
I don't see anything wrong with creating a new model in 2023R, but I just can't open the file again.
I would like to know the solution. Thank you in advance.

      Hi

K Files are not version dependent,

be clear on what you are using, either WB LS-DYNA or the standalone.

If you can show us the error message, a possible solution be suggested.

      Cheers, Ram

Thank you for your prompt response.

If WB LS-DYNA refers to ANSYS Workbench, I would like to clarify that I am not using it. My current tools of choice are LS Prepost and LS Run.

When attempting to open a K file in LS PrePost, it freezes as depicted in the attached image. However, for verification purposes, I tried opening a simple K file created in the past, and it opened successfully.

Lately, I have been creating models using Disc Sphere Generation (DSG). Could this be the reason why I am unable to open files? Interestingly, as shown in the image below, the model displays correctly when opened in 2020R.

Is there any solution or workaround for this issue? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

      Best regards,

Upon conducting various tests, I have identified that the inability to open K files was not directly related to the use of DSG (Disc Sphere Generation). Instead, I discovered that the issue was attributed to the configuration within the Keyword "CONTROL_DISCRETE_ELEMENT."

Previously, I had entered only FRICS and FRICR as provisional values and set the Active option cards to None. This configuration prevented the successful opening of K files, as I found through my own experimentation.

While I am relieved that the problem has been resolved, I am curious as to why setting Active option cards to None would impact the ability to open K files. Is it due to my improper use of this Keyword? I would appreciate any insights or guidance you can provide on this matter.

      Thank you for your assistance.

      Best regards,
