About constraints in Ansys Strutural !

      Hi everyone!

I'm simulating thermal deformation by using Ansys Workbench (Structural module). There is a cylinder pipe as shown in Figure. The pipe can rotate around z-axis and the thermal deformation in radial direction only (That means the axis of the pipe is fixed and others are free. How can I apply these constraints?

      Thank you so much.

You can use remote displacement with the options to fix/free all translations and rotations. n

Thank you for your reply. I tried that but I didn't obtain the results.n

if this is a structural analysis, or coupled thermal-structural, there is no way to apply this boundary condition. If rotations in Z are free-free, you will have solver pivot errors. You can possibly simplify your analysis into an axisymmetric analysis, dependant on your load also being axisymmetric. The other option is to utilise a free-fixed constraint in Z rotation. I would do this with a remote point, and on one end of the pipe, fix rotations in Z.n
