SubscriberHi everyone,
In my simulation, I have a series of unconnected body, specifically an array of sleepers. I create them in the design modeller and grouped all bodies into a part. For this part, I assign them a single material property. However, when I write the .k keyword for ls-dyna in ansys mechanical, it always generate a part, a section, a material for EACH body, though all the part/section/material is the same. That means I have dozens of part in ls-dyna input file, which is very inconvenient. I attached the screenshot of ansys mechanical and ls-prepost in the following.Â
Does anyone know with many disconnected body, how can you group them into one part in the ansys environment and subsequently write corresponding desired .k input file? Thank you!

Subscriber I was aware of this solution and have tried it before. While it’s almost perfect, there will be dozens of unused section and material cards in the LS-DYNA input file, which complicates things a bit. Still, I really appreciate your reply, at least now I know there might not be an obvious way to achieve this in ANSYS enviroment that I might have missed.

Ansys EmployeeI think the easiest way to remove those extra section and materials cards is through a text editor. Just edit the .k file and remove the cards.Â
Another option: go to keyword manager > model check > double click on section/mat cards > delete all unreferenced cards.Â
