SubscriberHi there!
I am trying to run a parametric analysis to find a volume- averaged temperature with different insulation thicknesses for an evaporative cooler geometery. I created an input parameter called insulation_thickness in DesignModeler and created an output parameter which was a volume-averaged temperature in the setup step. When I try to update all the design points in the parameter set module in workbench, it will only update the first point because there is a problem with the meshing for all the other points (where the insulation thickness varies).
I am just wondering, how does generating a mesh work if you have geometry as a parameter? I would guess it must have to create a new mesh, but my first mesh is imported into Fluent in the workflow, which I think is causing the problems.Â
Do I need to generate and import a new mesh for each individual insulation thickness? Also, do I have to initialize and recalculate the temperature output each time? I was hoping the parameter setting would do this automatically.Â
Thanks so much,Â
Best,
Alexa

Forum ModeratorIt should update fine. If you alter the parameter and review the geometry is it valid? If you're not careful with the dimension assignment you can cause the update to fail (eg you turned the model inside out).Â

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
Can you repeat the same but the meshing being done in Fluent Meshing? You can use the water tight geometry.Â

SubscriberHi Rahul,
I didn't mention but the meshing was done in Fluent with fluent meshing. Then I imported into Fluid Flow (Fluent). Not sure if that's what you mean.
Thanks,Â

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
This should work. Can you check what Rob suggested?Â
