Dear Lumerical Support Team,
I am designing a ring modulator with a circular outer ring and a custom-shaped inner ring, which results in non-uniform ring width at different angles. When simulating doping and charge distribution, focusing on a 2D cross-section might cause errors due to the non-uniform structure.
I have reviewed the official examples on your website regarding MRM, but those examples are based on a ring with uniform width and a perfect circular structure. My design, however, differs due to the custom-shaped inner ring and non-uniform width.
Is it possible to define a 3D non-uniform doping distribution in Lumerical CHARGE and obtain charge distribution across the entire structure under different biases, instead of only simulating in 2D?
(Below is the ring resonator I designed, where it is clearly visible that the ring's width is not uniform.
I have already completed the design of the MRR using FDTD, and now I just want to modify it into an MRM.)
Thank you for your assistance!

YOu can have custom doping and import it Â

if only the ring is the semiconductor, you can dope it as regular doping as non-semiconductor does not pickup any doping. Of course this will depend on your process techniques.
