SubscriberHi,nI'm trying perform 2D static analysis of a porous foam. When I create the 2D surface in Design modeller, it opens in Mechanical without any issue and I can run the analysis. But if I import 3D file (STP format) in design modeller and create mid surface, it doesn't open in Mechanical and gives an error : No Valid bodies found.nMid surface is in XY plane. Analysis type is set to 2D. nPlease help. As i have intricate features I cant draw in modeller.n -

Ansys EmployeeHi Array
See if you can import the midsurface when you set analysis type to 3D. If it did, then the surface is not in XY plane or the Z coordinate is not exactly zero. When you import into Mechanical as 3d model, you can select vertices and use "selection information" to look at the coordinates. You will see non zero values for Z coordinate in Mechanical
You will have to move/modify the geometry in DM to make sure Z coordinate is zero for the surface

Subscriber.Hi gnagapp
I am facing the same problem. I want to know how can i set the z value to zero?
I am new in ANSYS user. I dont know exactly where I can find different options. I will be thankful if you could show me by picture or if there is any video?
