I want to solve a coupled problem involving a 2d axisymmetric model by coupling:
- electromagnetics
- heat transfer
- motion
- solidification and melting
I am trying to couple Maxwell with Fluent (two-way coupling) using System Coupling, as shown in the Bar and Coil tutorial, for example. The problem is that there is no System Coupling Setup option in Optimetrics->Add, to export the files in Electronics Desktop. I am using version 2023R2.
Why is it in 3D and not in 2D?
Is there any way to solve this model with Ansys following this or another procedure?

Hello Jose,Â
System coupling supports Maxwell 3D Eddy Current, Maxwell 3D Transient, and Maxwell 2D Transient Cartesian, XY geometry mode solutions so far.
Because you are simulating "melting", I think you need to use Fluent, but I think you will only enter loss results of Maxwell into Fluent, because Maxwell would not do geometry deformation or motion gotten from Fluent.
However, if you are simualting magnetic stirring, Maxwell could give the B field with real and imaginery parts to Fluent, and Fluent will use its own magnetic solver to simulate heat, force and motion. Maxwell 3D eddy current solver is required too.
