Clarifying how to 2D Airfoil CFD Fluent

Dear Ansys Staff and fellow forum users,

I am attempting my first 2D airfoil (2 - 3 multi-element) simulation, to decide on the wing angle(s), wing sizing, along with other variables, (to save time, before I attempt 3D simulations) , however there seems to be no option to select '2D' under dimensions in the start-up Fluent 2025 R1 page?
I am using Fluent stand-alone, without Workbench, if that matters.

An example Youtube tutorial I am following, using an older Fluent version, which displays both 2D and 3D options:

It appears that the newer Fluent version have separate Meshing and Solution Modes. It looks like I am confused with the 2D meshing process.

Question - Should I select 2D Meshing, under Workflow Type? (Drop-down list not shown as I capture a pic of the screen)

      Many thanks,

      Kelvin

      Hi Kelvin,

I think the 2D Meshing is the workflow you should use for creating a 2D mesh in 25R1. At the end of the workflow you can export a mesh for the 2D solver. The saving under File > Write > Mesh gives you a re-entering point for the workflow. I recommend to save both files with meaningful names.

      Thanks,
      Lars
