We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Hi,

Yes, you are right. The accuracy of temperature-dependent material properties such as density, thermal conductivity, and heat capacity is crucial because these properties significantly influence the heat transfer and phase change phenomena that occur during the process. If the properties are not accurately represented, especially at high temperatures where the material behavior can change dramatically, the model's predictions for temperature distribution, melt pool dimensions, and cooling rates may be off. This can lead to incorrect predictions of microstructure, residual stresses, and distortions in the final part. To ensure the accuracy of the model, it is important to use reliable data for the material properties at the relevant temperature ranges. This data can be obtained from experiments or from validated databases.

Thanks,
