Are you running the Free student version or the Academic version checking out a license from the university server?
If you open your TEMP directory and go to:  .ansys directory, you should see license debug files.
Open the licdebug..MECH.241.out
There should be licensing information contained in that file.
Please post errors or messages from that file.
