Hi Anika,
 
I have the same problem. When I try to open or uptade any model (mechanical, static structural etc.) system uses full ram capacity. Even If I get to open a model it's barely usable. Solver times are as usual but saving or updating steps are extremely slow (5-6 hour or 1-2 day). I tried your "named selection" solution but it did not work. Do you have any other solution about it?
