In general, too large energy error means that there is an instability in the simulation. Here you can find a great article about energy balance in LS-DYNA: /knowledge/forums/topic/can-you-discuss-energy-balance-for-an-ls-dyna-simulation/

Good place to start is to identify which energy is rising and giving the error. That should give you a hint what is the root of the problem. Please plot energies from GLSTAT – kinetic, internal, hourglass, sliding etc.

Additionally, can you please describe how your setup looks like? What type of elements are you using? Do you have an erosion criterion incorporated in your model for pipe?
