I have seen CFD users import , for example, heat transfer coefficient and fluid wall temperature as a function of time from CFD and apply it to a FE mesh using External Data and Mechanical. To do this you create multiple files - one for each time point. In External Data you can import multiple files (representing different points in time). You can point to one of these as a master file so that the interpolation is not carried out every time. Since the mesh is not changing, the interpolation function created for the first time can be reused if you mark it as master.
Then in Mechanical you can indicate which file will be used at what time point (analysis time).
