Hello, 

Can you please refer this Slicing Geometry with SpaceClaim - Ansys Knowledge tutorial for more information splitting a model with a plane, surface, and using existing geometry.

Also, saving it and reopening should not have the problem. What is the error message you get when reponed? Also, does this happen when you create an enclosure from the Enclosure tool from the Prepare tab?
