The range of operating point inputs that can be accepted in all the Vista tools is based on an appropriate specific speed range for that device. The specific speed is a function of the mass flow, rotational speed, head rise (or head drop) and fluid density. The specific speed range for Vista RTD is not provided in the documentation, but the user can find examples of an appropriate specific speed range in the literature. Refer to the NASA report SP-290, "Turbine Design and Application", Volume 3 which discusses design of radial inflow turbines.
If the requirements of your design fall outside the applicable specific speed range, it may indicate that modifying the rotational speed and using a multi-stage approach may be needed to achieve the desired performance goals.
