Thank you for the answer.

When I wrote in the cmd "ping servername" I got the following message: Connection to *servername*... Unable to open a connection to the host on port 23: Connection failed

While when I wrote in the cmd "telnet *servername* *portnumber* I effectively got a blank window.

It seems like it can connect if I insert both the servername and portnumber, but I cannot communicate with the server otherwise, and the number 23 of the port in the first message is not the one corresponding to the portnumber I am given by my university.
