Shouldn't be an issue, the preset criterion are based on the VOF model. It's possible switching models on/off has broken the set up, but I've not observed that before. 

Try running with what you have. The dynamic adaption is only really needed when the free surface moves, when it's fairly static it's more cpu efficient to run on a fixed mesh.Â
