There's no switch to make the explicit solver linear in the same sense that implicit can be made linear. Explicit always considers finite displacements and rotations. That said, if the material is *MAT_ELASTIC and there is no contact and the deformation is small, the explicit solution should agree with a linear implicit solution. I would recommend double precision however.
