Not necessarily. You can use proper mesh size , eg, the auto mesh size on the waveguide, which only increase a little of the memory with increase of the geometry, and it is necessary. However once the mesh is fixed the monitor will have fixed data dimension which will avoid the issue you currently face.

You can use the ruler on the left toolbar to roughly measure the mesh size on the waveguide.
