I would say the problem must be the your second guess since the beams orientation appear correct also in Mechanical:

... but the original geometry rendering shows some defects too: the leg beams do not appear in their corresponding correct blue color...

So, what do I do with/after that? How the hell do you spot and correct a bug in the code?!
