SubscriberHi, nI meet a problem that my model penetrates with each other. My contact is bonded contact, rigid-flexible type. nmy model contains 3 parts, one is mass, one is surrounding part and tool. I make tool compress the deformable model about 6mm. Then I found the model pene*tration with each other. I set result to true scale, so it should not be the problem. and I also tried the turn large deflection on, then I found it could not converge. can anybody help me solve the problem? thank you very much. nregards, nqdyuathis is my model. the attached file is my model and contact settings for clear. For boundary, I just set bottom surface as fixed surface. input is tool top surface displacement.nn

Forum ModeratornYou should keep the large deflection on. With large deflections on do you see any contact ****? Is the contact behaving the way expected with Large Deflections? What is the error message you see? Please share a snapshot. Also see if the following course helps:nnnRegards,nAshish Khemkan -

SubscribernI watch the video provided. it was good, I tried to flip the target and contact bodies. I set tool as contact body, and the deformable body as target body, but the problem is not solved. (the sphere in between is 15000 pa, and surrounding part is 5000 pa, the tool is structural steel)nwith large deflection on, the model cannot converge, I have no idea why. here are some resultsnI first show the result that I did not turn on the large deflectionn
then I tried turn large deflection on, but it did not converge. I guess the meshes are not fine enough, so I used surface sizing to make surface finer mesh, but the result is similar. nI will plot residual force plots, n

Forum ModeratornTry refining the mesh for the bodies instead of the surface alone. You may use a sphere of influence. Try applying the load gradually using a large number of substeps for the non-converging load step. nRegards,nAshish Khemkan n
