To simulate an unpolarized beam or plane wave source, two simulations with orthogonal polarizations will be required.

Hi. how to give unpolarized light to the simulation because i want to check whether there will be any polarization change on metasurface. please help me

October 4, 2023 at 3:57 pmGreg BaethgeAnsys EmployeeApologies for this, the content of this post got damaged for some reason. You can't model unpolarized light in FDTD directly. To simulate an unpolarized beam, you need 2 separate simulations, with 2 orthogonal polarizations (typically we use a polarization angle of 0 and 90°). Then you can average incoherently the results.
You will find more information in this page.
