SubscriberHi all, this forum has been super helpful. A problem my group has been facing is selecting a small portion of the shaft in the rotational zone and even the whole rotational zone. When in mesh it forces us to select all or nothing with box select selected. We thought we fixed it by selecting the face but once going into fluent it became clear, atleast I believe that to set up a rotational zone you have to select a body. I say this because the only other named selection from meshing was the only other body made, the whole tank, in the drop down menu of the cell zone conditions.
So I guess my question is how can we only select the fluid in the mrf with box select selected in mesh. If there is another way to keep this named selection as a face select and get it to pop up on fluent's cell zone condition drop down menu please let me know. Thank you and I hope this makes sense, I am fairly new to learning ANSYS.
Here are pictures taken in mesh when trying to only select the rotational zone.

nThank you for the reply. If by box select filter you mean the box select button at the top anytime I choose that the only object I can select is the whole tank or peices of the impellar. Nothing else. And we need the rotational zone selected.nMarch 4, 2021 at 8:46 amKeyur Kanade
Ansys EmployeePlease check if you have separate body as rotational zone. Please check in structure tree. nPlease go through help manual for more details nAlso please check following video which shows some operations in meshing and also has some operations on selecting geometry. nnRegards,nKeyurnHow to access Ansys Online Help DocumentnHow to show full resolution imagenGuidelines on the Student CommunitynHow to use Google to search within Ansys Student CommunitynMarch 4, 2021 at 9:47 amRob
Forum ModeratorTo pick the rotating zone, a very easy trick is to hide the tank volume. Set all bc's on the impeller etc and then hide that volume & repeat on the tank. Remember to show all before moving on! nViewing 4 reply threads- The topic ‘How to select an area as a body’ is closed to new replies.
