SubscriberSince my last attempts of having the system (stepped solar still) as assembly have failed. I’ve decided to make the geometry be a single solid feature all throughout. In order to specify the amount of water in each step I created a cell region. The issue that I’m currently running into is that when I do the patching of these regions, the program don’t allow me to select them all at once so they can be patched. I have to select them individually and patch them with water. Is this the right way to do it? Or is the program just patching one specific region and not patching the rest? When I run the analysis, it says that both the steam and water volume fraction are zero. What could I be doing wrong? I am new to ANSYS and a lot of thing are unknown to me. I’m using solar tracing and the S2S radiation model. Attached down below are some pictures of my system and the URL of the video I followed to run the analysis.

Ansys EmployeeOnce you patch volume fraction, go to contours. Display contours of a vof on a plane or any other surface to see if it is patched or not. nRegards,nKeyurnHow to access Ansys Online Help DocumentnHow to show full resolution imagenGuidelines on the Student CommunitynHow to use Google to search within Ansys Student CommunitynFebruary 24, 2021 at 5:39 pmMatiasB26
SubscriberDear Keyur, I did that and it shows that is that the water volume fraction is 0. What could I be doing wrong? because I'm patching all regions. nFebruary 25, 2021 at 5:26 amKeyur Kanade

SubscriberHey keyur,nAttached below are all the contours I created for the simulation. Also, let me note that every time I patch a cell registry it says that the cells have been marked yet for some reason it still not recognizing the water volume fraction. Each cell registry a patch it with a volume fraction value of 1.n n

Forum ModeratorHow deep is the patch region? nFebruary 26, 2021 at 3:41 pmMatiasB26
Subscriberwhat do you mean by depth? If by this you mean the length of the region along the y-axis is 5 mm for each region. Also, how can I patch all the regions simultaneously instead of one at a time?nFebruary 26, 2021 at 4:49 pmRob
Forum ModeratorNo, size (volume) of the patch region. nFebruary 26, 2021 at 5:13 pmMatiasB26
SubscriberHow will I check that in with the program? Theoretically each region should have 309676.8 mm^3 of volume, but I don't know how to check that with the program.nViewing 8 reply threads- The topic ‘Program not recognizing water volume fraction after patching.’ is closed to new replies.
