SubscriberI recently downloaded and installed 2021-R1, but it seems it has a problem accessing the license. Workbench does not show System Analysis and stand-alone Fluent also cannot access license. I use a VPN to access the license server in my university network and it seems to work with the 2020-R2 that I also have on my computer. I did a test on License Client Setting and it shows a green checkmark.n -

SubscriberHi,
I have the same problem. I also installed the license manager 2021R1 but still, Workbench does not show System Analysis and stand-alone Fluent also cannot access the license.
when I open fluent, the below message shows up.
ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:Failover feature 'CFD Solver - Level 2' is not available.
Request name cfd_solve_level2 does not exist in the licensing pool.
No such feature exists.

Forum ModeratorArray Please ensure the university has updated the license manager version to 2021R1 on the license server and that they have received a new license to support 2021R1 and installed it on the server. A new license is required to support 2021R1. This error would indicate that the new license isn't in place on the license server machine as it's not seeing the necessary features. Do you know your university's customer number?

thank you Array
Our research group has been using Ansys academic for more than a year and it has been installed on my office computer (not the university server). I was using Ansys 2020 R1 and after having a problem I recently decided to install 2021 R1 but the new version is not working as I explained.
below is the account number that I have:

Forum ModeratorArray The ASC for this account needs to go to the Ansys Licensing Portal (licensing.ansys.com) to download an updated license file. I have Maysam Mousaviraad listed as the ASC. The new license will have the updated features needed to run 2021R1.

Subscriber.I have the same problem.
- If possible point me at the license manager upgrade files
- How to install and configure the LM
Currently, 2020 and 2019 are working using the license we had before.
So before i do any upgrade, i would like to know if we will have to purchase a new license or the 2020 license can also be upgraded to 2021 R1?
much appreciated

Forum Moderator.MosesT You can access the installation downloads here: https://download.ansys.com/Current%20Release The license manager is under the Tools section, you'll want "Ansys License Manager".
Installation instructions can be found here, under the Licensing section: https://download.ansys.com/Installation+and+Licensing+Help+and+Tutorials
As long as your TECS are current, you will be able to obtain an updated license file to support 2021R1 and R2.

Subscriber.Hi, I have a similar problem.
I manage both the license server and the client software.
They are both up to date, to the same release (2021 R1).
On the client-side, The client settings utility sees and lists all the licenses available on the server. (Green Flexnet check & diagnosis)
Ansys Workbench does not register any licenses but is able to communicate with the server. (No time out error message is generated on startup)
The client software has recently been reinstalled. The previous installation worked flawlessly.
I'm having issues troubleshooting this issue.
Thanks
