Hi, nI'm trying to simulate the solidification process of molten Aluminum in a Steel mold.I have defined all the interfaces. When I try to define the via system coupling thermal condition for a solid to a fluid interface. I get the following error Warning: via system coupling cannot be set.nnWhat can be the issue with this warning? I'm using Ansys 2020 R2 academic.nThank you.nnBest Regards,nRashigann

System Coupling is useful only when you have interaction between two different products, for instance - Ansys Fluent and Ansys Mechanical.nIf you are running just a Fluent simulation, you cannot (and do not want to) set 'System Coupling'.nKarthikn

Thank you very much for your reply. nCan you explain a bit more about the use case of 'system coupling'? With a physical example of a boundary that it should be used.nMy goal is to simulate residual stresses on a casting. For now, I have only set up the fluent without plugin in mechanical. I thought for the boundary which contains molten metal and the metal mold I should use 'via system coupling'.nThank you.nnBest Regards,nRashin

Hi,nWhen you are running two different physical analyses using different tools (say Ansys Fluent and Steady State Thermal), you should be using 'System Coupling' as an interface to transfer information from one tool to another. When you are using just Ansys Fluent to solve your model, you cannot use this. nHere is some info from the Fluent Users Guide. Please see Section 7.4.15.3.10.nI hope this helps.nKarthikn

Hi Karthik,nThank you for your reply.nI plugged the 'transient structural' into the fluent system. But still, I get the same error.nBest Regards,nRashigannn

Hello,nAs Ansys employees, we are not able to download files from this Forum.nI'd strongly recommend that you watch these two videos.nArrayArrayI hope this helps you understand how to set-up the problem.nPlease also look at the System Coupling tutorials in the help documentation. Here is the link.nArrayIf you are unable to open this link, please take a look at the following discussion about alternate instructions. nIf you are unable to open this link, please take a look at the following discussion about alternate instructions. nThanks.nKarthikn

Hi Karthik,nThank you, however, this tutorial is for two-way coupling. nI got the issue solved and had another issue.nAfter running the simulation in Fluent I imported the simulation data to mechanical. nHowever, I cannot run the simulation in mechanical since it says the time steps do not match. nAny assistance on how to solve this issue is highly appreciated.nI have used fixed 1(s) time step in FluentThank you.

Hello,nCould you please confirm if this issue is resolved?n

Hi,I'm conducting an FSI simulation with Fluent and Transient structural coupling.Influent I have set 0.01 (s) step size with 10 number of time steps. I have finished the simulation in fluent and imported the temperature data to structural. But I cannot get the time step values correct whatever value I put I get a question mark in the "analysis settings".https://us.v-cdn.net/6032193/uploads/XQWXEC0XYIQX/image.pngPlease let me know how to solve this.Thank you.Best Regards,Rashi/forum/discussion/24095/how-to-match-time-step-settings-for-a-coupled-simulation

      Thank you.nKarthikn
