SubscriberThe option for 2D in the fluent launcher dialog box doesn't appear to be available, does the 2D choice have to be pre-selected elsewhere? Haven't used Fluent Meshing before, importing 2D geometry from SpaceClaim

SubscriberFluent meshing is used for complex geometries meshing at interfaces. not for 2DnJanuary 11, 2021 at 10:48 amRob
Forum ModeratorFor 2d use Workbench. You also need to set the 2d flag there before launching meshing and ensure the geometry is on the z=0 plane; y>=0 too. nJanuary 11, 2021 at 1:30 pmjlister

Thanks Rob. I've now switched to workbench, and done the following but without successncreated geometry on the yz planenon the geometry cell in my workbench display set Analysis type to 2Dnlinked geometry to Fluent (with Fluent Meshing)nUpdatenI get this error associated with the Mesh cell in workbench nAny further suggestions?.

Forum ModeratorFluent Meshing is for 3d only, so link from SpaceClaim to Meshing to Fluent (NOT with Fluent Meshing). Note line 20 on the right side of the image (from 2020R2) for the 2d/3d flag. Meshing is about half way down the list on the left of the image, just below Mechanical. nThe plane is xy ie z=0 for 2d, not as you mention above. nn

AdministratorHello,nIf you are using a 2D formulation, the geometry needs to be in the XY plane (as suggested - on the z = 0 plane, X and Y coordinates have to be greater than or equal to 0).nAlso, Fluent meshing does not work for 2D geometries. Please use the WB meshing for this case.nThank you.nKarthiknJanuary 11, 2021 at 1:40 pmRob
