How to compute the Young’s Modulus

I am doing a compression test of a porous specimen (scaffold) by using non-linear stress-strain data of the solid specimen. I had given -ve X displacement on the top face and fixed the opposite side of the specimen. I need to compute the youngs modulus of the specimen after the structural analysis. Please suggest which stress-strain data in Ansys post-processor I need to plot. Please help me out.

      Thanks in advance :)

nYoung's Modulus = Stress/StrainnStress = Force/AreanStrain = deltaL/LnApply a Displacement of deltaL such as 0.0001 m in the -X direction.nIt looks like L is about 0.01 m so the Strain is 0.01nObtain the Reaction Force for this displacement in N.nIt looks like the cross sectional area is 0.008*0.008 = 64E-6 m^2nDivide the force in N by the area to get the Stress in N/m^2 = PanDivide the Stress by the Strain to get the Young's Modulus in Pa for this cube.nThat is for this amount of strain. If you crush the cube, then the Young's Modulus will change. n

Thanks for your prompt response...I am applying the displacement such that the material is deforming plastically as well. So total strain will compose of elastic as well as plastic. For that particular scenario can I compute the Young's Modulus by the process told by you i.e. applying displacement such that the body remains in the elastic region or is there is another way to compute Young's Modulus in such a situation (suppose crushing) please tell me. nThanks for your help.n

nReduce the X displacement to 1e-6 m to keep it in the elastic range.n
