Remote Displacement Definition

      Hello,

In the Definition section of a Remote Displacement, what exactly are the X,Y,Z components as well as Rotation X,Y,Z ? I was under the impression that they are displacements along and rotations around the X,Y,Z axis. As I checked the Ansys Mechanical User's Guide, it says they are "Distance" or "Rotational Distance" in the X,Y, Z directions. So, I am confused what is meant exactly by "Distance" ? Is it wrong to consider them as displacement and rotation of the entity that moves by the remote displacement option in X,Y,Z directions ? I would appreciate your help!

nThe remote displacement applies component displacements and angular rotations to the pilot node located at the specified coordinates. Don't worry that the User Guide uses the word distance,n

ArraynThanks Peter for your response. By pilot node you mean the remote point ? As you see in the picture on the top, I assigned the face of the compression plate (in red) a remote point whose coordinates are 0.196, 1.113, 0.590. Is that point the pilot node? So, can I say the remote displacement and rotation components that I set (as can be seen in the figure at the bottom the displacement components are 0,-0.24,0 and for rotation, 0,0,0) applies to this point, and, as a result the compression plate has the same displacement and rotation components, i.e. 0,-0.24,0, 0,0,0 ? That is what I have been assuming all along. nn
