Hello,Is it possible to scale the force and displacement data transferred between Fluent and Transient Structural using system coupling?.Thank you, nAzin n

Hello,nI'm trying to understand the scenarios where you would want to scale the force and displacement data when doing an FSI simulation. Could you please elaborate?nThank you.nKarthikn

Hi, nThank you so much for answering. nI have Fluent on one side with a hollow cube representing a building structure and a dynamic mesh of type system coupling assigned to it. nI have transient mechanical on the other side with a simple nonlinear model of the same building, again as a simple cube. nI am running these two models together through the system coupling. nAt the beginning of the analysis when the flow in Fluent has not settled down yet, large forces are transferred to the mechanical side and yield my system. I couldn't find a way to initialize system coupling from let's say 0.5 sec where the flow is settled. So, I though I try adding a scale factor to the forces transferred from Fluent to Mechanical at the beginning of the analysis. nAlso, regardless of this problem, if there is a way for scaling the transferred data, I am interested to learn that.Thank you so much, nAzin

Hi Azin, nFor the situation you described, it would be best to initialize the flow field with a Fluent only run. This can be done by adding a new Fluent component in Workbench and attaching its solution cell to the setup cell of the Fluent component that is connected to System Coupling. nIn general, on the forum please give information about your specific problem and goals instead of asking if specific features exist. We can provide a better solution this way.nAlso, here are my general System Coupling recommendations:nI recommend going over this tutorial in the Ansys documentation that shows a 2-way FSI simulation with Fluent and Mechanical.https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/sysc_tut/sysc_tut_oscplate_wb_fluent.htmlnSystem Coupling Tutorials \\ Tutorials with Workbench-Setup Workflows \\ Tutorials with Workbench Setup and Execution \\ Oscillating Plate FSI with Fluent and MechanicalnnYou can also look at the following for the same tutorial but run with the System Coupling GUI or Command Line Interface that is run outside of Workbench:https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/sysc_tut/sysc_tut_oscplate_cli_fluent.htmlnSystem Coupling Tutorials \\ Tutorials with Command-Line Interface (CLI) Workflows \\ Oscillating Plate FSI with Fluent and MechanicalnnFSI simulations with very soft materials or membranes are prone to numerical instabilities. In 2020R1 we have introduced a stabilization method in System Coupling called the Quasi-Newton Stabilization Algorithm. Note that this has to be used with the new System Coupling GUI or Command Line Interface that is run outside of Workbench. Thank you for all the useful information. But I am actually not able to connect the solution cell of the fluent block that has been run individually to the setup cell of the fluent block that is connected to system coupling. n
