Hi, I want a suggestion on budget GPU for my PC to run ansys fluent faster. Is Nvidia Quadro P600 or P620 would accelerate the calculations? I found a used and affordable online.n

Here is the list of supported and certified (tested) GPU's. The P family should be fine but there are always a lot of levels of entry nnhttps://www.ansys.com/-/media/ansys/corporate/files/pdf/solutions/it-professionals/platform-support/gpu-accelerator-capabilities-2020-r2.pdf?la=en&hash=80442D3747C5AAE3DFF685A57F37C3FE82229192n

to add, the cost of a GPU may not be worth it, and the Student licence doesn't support GPU acceleration. Our work laptops use a normal (albeit rather good) GPU and quad/hex core CPU depending on the version. We do use GPU on occasion, but I tend to find using a load more CPU to be more effective. n

Hi Rob, I haven?t made any decision yet either to invest on a budget GPU. My current CPU is the best CPU that is capable for my motherboard. I did add 16gb RAM recently. Is the academic license same as student license?n

Academic licence is a broader term covering Teaching and Research licences. Student is much the same as Teaching in terms of functionality. Research removes the node/cell limits but tends to be specific to a single product. n

If you're using Research (models over 512k cells in CFD) then you may find a GPU will help. n

Noted. I will check with my university if the one that I?m using is a student or a research license. Thanks Robn

Hi again nwhat do you think about Nvidia Quadro P1000? Is it better than P620? I need to add few hundred, but if it have much difference, than I better go for P1000 right?n

I can only refer you to the supported platform/hardware list which has already linked. I have very little knowledge of what's good: for work I rely on IT giving me a new laptop every 3-ish years, and at home a friend builds computers for a living. n

thanks for the reply. I understand that. My uni doesnt have a funding for computer upgrade, so I have to do this survey, at the same time learning a lot about Ansys. Which is good exercise for me too.n
