      The pinball radius of 10 is OK. But may be not 'adjust to touch'. I would remove that. Looks like both the top plate and bottom plate are well constrained from your description. Ramp apply the load on the top plate over a number of substeps so that the top plate does not just pass beyond the pinball radius in one step.
