Modeling a Shell-Solid Assembly

      Hello, everyone!

I need your advices about shell-solid connection. So, i have to perform analysis of a quite large structure. Because of that, i decided to model some of the structure parts with solid elements, some parts - with shells. I found "Modeling a Shell-Solid Assembly" Chapter from "Contact technology quide" and decided to make very simple analysis to be sure that i'm doing everything right.

So, i have two simple assemblies:

nnHaving a contact between the edge of a surface body (shell) and the face of a Flexible body is fine. The surface body Edge is the Contact, and the solid body Face is the Target. With the Bonded MPC contact one way to connect node rotations on the surface body is with Constraint Type set to ?Target Normal, Couple U to Rot.? This will ensure transmission of rotation and moments at the node.nnRegards,nAshish Khemkann

Hello,Array!nI'm sorry for so long answer!nUnfortunately, i cannot find Target Normal, Couple U to Rot Constraint type. I have just these types of constraints:nAnd in the contact zone between shell and solid i have such a situation (with program controlled constraint type):nWhen i switch on Shell thickness effect in the contact property, i have stress concentrator (about 20% higher, than it should be), as seen in the picture. n

modeling a shell-solid assembly of a solid cylinder joining with a shell cylinder. im using MPC connection with the shell edge being the contact and the solid face being the target. the connection applies without issue but when the contact tool status is viewed, the connection is only sticking across sections of the cylinders edge, not the whole circumferential edge like it should. ive played with increasing and decreasing the pinball radius but nothing seems to get the whole shell edge to join whole solid face like i need. when running solutions, the shell will deform and pedal away from the solid at the non-sticking sections that were identified in the contact tool status too, so i know the issue isnt with a contact tool graphic either. anyone experience this with?
