SubscriberHi everyone!nI am new to ANSYS; previous Abaqus user. I would like to know how to create a shell to solid coupling in ANSYS APDL. Can it be done by MPC contact? I tried to but could not get it to work in APDL. Any leads or material to guide will be really helpful.n -

Ansys EmployeeI think one way is to use MPC contacts between them - this is easier to do in Mechanical but is of course possible in APDL as well.nnAnother way is of course to have a fully compatible mesh at a common edge if possible.nnA nice discussion on MPC and compatible meshes between shells and solid is:nI think one way is to use MPC contacts between them - this is easier to do in Mechanical but is of course possible in APDL as well.nnAnother way is of course to have a fully compatible mesh at a common edge if possible.nnA nice discussion on MPC and compatible meshes between shells and solid is:nnA chapter also in the ansys help manual that you have with the ansys installation, and that is in the Mechanical APDL guide chapter 10.2 and is related to the connection of solids and shell parts (chapter is called 10.2. Modeling a Shell-Solid Assembly).nnThank younnErik Kostsonn
