Size limit of license

      Hello there,

I have a problem concerning the maximum number of elements which can be solved by my license.

I am using the Academic License, so I should be able to use models with about 250.000 nodes/elements.

I got a problem, the program will keep telling me 'Your product license has numerical problem size limits, you have exceeded these problem size limits and the solver cannot proceed.' As I only have 26.187 nodes and 83.443 elements, this shouldn't be a problem.

The free student product on the structural side can handle 32K nodes/elements. Are you using the free student product?nOr do you use a different license?nThanks.nKarthikn

As ANSYS Staff, we can not download attachments. Please upload images using upload image functionality. nPlease cross check license you are using. n

I am using a Teaching License of my University.nThis is when the numbering changes the first time, why is there a gap between them?nnThe elements are created until number 112522.nThen the RBE3 Elements are starting with number 277333, which might be the reason why my license doesn't work on that.nDo you have any idea how to fix that?nwhere can I cross check the license I am using?n

Teaching also has a 32k cell count limit for Mechanical. If you want more you'll need to use a Research licence. If you've been remeshing there's also an option to re-order or reset the node ID numbers in Mechanical (I don't know where): this is what the system checks so you can still have issues with fewer elements. n

I made sure I don't have too many nodes or elements, my node number is 21k and my last element of the created RB3 elements is number 17.543 , but I will still get that error.nBefore, that model did work perfectly, now suddenly I get that error again. Is there anything else I can check?nI tried renumbering the nodes, but didn't have any effect.nn

Can you please share a screen shot of the error message and where you get it?nAlso, could you please start a fresh WB session, remesh your geometry, and ensure that your element (and node) count is below 32K?nPlease let us know what you find.nThanks.nKarthik n

I did as you told, but I will still get the same error.nI then checked the nodes an found that the node numbers of the Remote points don't change, even if I remesh.nnSo the number of the remote point nodes was still too high, even if there were only 21.205 nodes in total.nI then deleted the Remote points, remeshed (with a smaller element size) and created them once again. Now they got a new number:nNow ANSYS solves the model, as I can apparently simulate models with up to 256k nodes.nDo I also have any option to renumber the remote points? I tried the Mesh numbering option, but that only works on the created nodes by the user.nnIs there an APDL-command to do so?.I also checked the element number:nThis is the last TET10 element created, later there are still some Remote Points with extra element numbers:nI am wondering, why there is a gap in the numbering between the normal elements, which I use to mesh my body and the internal elements created by ANSYS.nDo you know why that's done that way?n

Hi, Michael,nnMechanical assigns a large arbitary number to the pilot node associated with the remote point. To over come this you can right-click on the remote point -> insert a commands object - define a command : _npilot = 1000, where 1000 is the node number to be assigned to the pilot node.nHope this helps.nnRgards,nAshish Khemkan

Hi Ashish, nthat helps for sure, thank you!nSo do I have to look up the last node number and then reassign the node number of each remote point manually?nI sometimes use a couple of remote points, so it would be good to get the node numbers for them automatically , can you provide the APDL-command for that?nTanks a lot!n
