Ansys EmployeeHi @skadam - Green strain is defined based on the large deformation formulation. The express of the Green strain tensor is E = 0.5*(transpose(F)*F-I), where F is the deformation tensor and I is identity tensor.Â

Forum ModeratorHi! Compared to small strain, Green strain has a quadratic term. To understand Green strain in a simple way, you can consider Green strain as: Green Strain = Small Strain Terms + Quadratic Terms.
Hope this helps!

Ansys EmployeeJust to add:Â Strain can be defined in many different ways. Green strain is one that completely eliminates the rigid body rotation from the total deformation.Â
