I have defined my project's geometry, but when I add a "Mesh" component to generate the 
mesh, the following error appears: "Error while waiting for mesh initialization to 
complete. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Hello,

What meshing setting are you using? Maybe you have selected Sweep Method or some meshing setting unavailable for your model. When you use meshing parameters which doesn't fit with your geometry, the mesh will not be created and it could cause this error. You could even try the defeaturing option to avoid smaill feautures in your geometry (small curves, unnecessary small faces...)
