SubscriberHello,
I am using Ansys Student 2026 R1 on Windows 11, and I am having a persistent licensing issue.
When I launch Ansys Fluent 2026 R1, the console shows:
Unexpected license problem; exiting.Earlier, I generated Ansys Diagnostics, and the Fluent licensing log showed:
DENIED cfd_preppostSystem clock has been set back.FlexNet Licensing error: -88,309My Windows date, time, and time zone are currently correct and automatically synchronized.
Previously, while installing another software package, I temporarily changed the Windows system date to a future year and later restored it to the correct date. I believe this may have triggered the FlexNet clock rollback detection.
I have already performed the following troubleshooting steps:
-
Removed the software associated with the future timestamps
-
Removed many files with future timestamps
-
Reset Ansys/Fluent user configuration files
-
Completely uninstalled Ansys Student 2026 R1
-
Removed remaining Ansys folders and user configuration files
-
Reinstalled Ansys Student 2026 R1 from a fresh official installer
-
Rebooted Windows after installation
However, the problem still remains.
After the clean reinstall:
-
Fluent still exits with
Unexpected license problem; exiting. -
Mechanical opens in
Read-Only Configuration -
Mechanical displays:
The shared license is not available to perform the Geometry Attach operation.
I am using the free Ansys Student version, not a university network license, and Network Licensing is disabled.
Could you please advise how to clear or reset the FlexNet clock rollback detection?
If there is an official datefix utility or recovery procedure for Ansys Student 2026 R1, could you please provide it?
I cannot attach the Diagnostics ZIP file to the forum, but I can provide specific log contents if needed.
Thank you.

SubscriberI found a previous Ansys Innovation Space thread where an Ansys employee provided a datefix utility internally for the same FlexNet -88,309 “System clock has been set back” issue on an Ansys Student installation.
Could you please confirm whether a similar utility is available for Ansys Student 2026 R1?
