We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

CFX Frozen Rotor Blade Pitch

      Hello,

I am simulating a bioreactor with CFX. I have three Rushton impellers rotating at the same speed on the same shaft.

I would like to understand what pitching the blades does for mixing in the simulation. For example, I would like to pitch the top impeller 45 degrees to get better mixing horizontally in the reactor.

For my setup, I subtract my reactor internals from an enclosure and then use a frozen rotor model with pitch change none. Do I need to rebuild my geometry for every run where I want to change the pitch on my impellers? This is not something I could apply the option "pitch change" for correct?

If you want to increase or decrease the number of blades around the impeller, then I think you need to change the geometry every time....
