Stopping the chair when it touches the ground.

My end goal is to stop the chair when it touches the rigid ground at the bottom. I have added a free fall to the chair and setup a rigid ground. Added contact between the entire chair and ground using automatic surface to surface. i couldnot find the reason for chair moving all the way through the ground. If anyone could give a suggestion, will be a great help!

      Hello,

Here are a few suggestions to establish the contact between the chair and the rigid ground in your LS-DYNA model:

      • Check the mesh quality and refine if it is too coarse. A reasonably coarse mesh is generally sufficient for contact detection, but poor mesh quality can still cause contact issues.
      • Use the SOFT=1 option in your contact keyword to enable a softer contact algorithm, which is more robust for automatic contacts involving thin shells.
      • If the shell is extremely thin, consider increasing its thickness or switching to a solid element for the ground to improve contact detection.
